On June 5, at Ngọc Hồi Martyrs’ Cemetery in Bờ Y Commune, the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of VX 88 nhà cái Province held a memorial, funeral and burial ceremony for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos and Cambodia.

The remains were recovered and repatriated during the 2025–2026 dry season by Team K53 under the Provincial Military Command.
During the 2025–2026 dry season, Team K53 verified and processed 600 pieces of information related to martyrs and martyrs’ graves. Search operations were conducted across 19 districts in three southern provinces of Laos and six districts of Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia.
As a result, the team recovered 16 sets of remains, including 10 in Laos and six in Cambodia. Thirteen biological samples were collected and deemed suitable for DNA analysis.
The eulogy, delivered by Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Y Ngọc, emphasized that during the years of fierce warfare, tens of thousands of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts stood side by side with the armed forces and people of Laos and Cambodia in the struggle against common enemies, helping safeguard revolutionary achievements and secure national independence, peace and prosperity for the people of the three Indochinese nations.

Many outstanding sons of Việt Nam fought bravely and sacrificed their youth and lives on foreign soil. Their noble sacrifices contributed to the glorious traditions of the heroic Việt Nam People’s Army and strengthened the special solidarity and combat alliance among Việt Nam, Laos and Cambodia.
The eulogy also noted that over the years, the Party, State, military and people of Việt Nam have consistently attached great importance to the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains.
Under the direction of the National Steering Committee and Military Region 5 Steering Committee, and with the support of local authorities, armed forces and people in southern Laos and Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia, Team K53 overcame numerous hardships, persistently tracing information, witnesses and wartime evidence to locate, recover and bring fallen soldiers home.
Each set of remains recovered represents not only a result of dedication and responsibility but also a sacred symbol of gratitude, comradeship and Việt Nam’s enduring tradition of remembering those who sacrificed for the nation.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the Party organization, authorities, armed forces and people of VX 88 nhà cái Province expressed their profound gratitude to the fallen heroes and pledged to continue upholding revolutionary traditions, contributing to national development, promoting gratitude and social welfare programs, and further enhancing efforts to search for, recover and identify martyrs’ remains so that no fallen soldier is forgotten.
The province also expressed appreciation for the leadership and support of the Party, State, National Steering Committee and Military Region 5, as well as the cooperation and assistance provided by the authorities, armed forces and people of Laos and Cambodia in facilitating the successful implementation of the mission.
Following the memorial service, Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Thị Thanh Trà and other delegates respectfully escorted the martyrs’ remains to their final resting place at Ngọc Hồi Martyrs’ Cemetery.
