QUẢNG NGÃI — Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trần Phước Hiền on March 2 chaired a working session with the Provincial Department of Education and Training to review the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 issued by the Politburo, and to outline key tasks for the coming period.

At the meeting, the department reported that it had rolled out synchronous solutions and achieved positive results in implementing Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Dissemination and communication of the resolution were conducted in a serious and flexible manner through both in-person and online formats, attracting more than 5,500 officials, civil servants and public employees.

The department has issued comprehensive plans and decisions to concretise tasks on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in line with the local education sector’s practical conditions.

In the field of science and technology and innovation, scientific research and technical competitions for high school students have continued to be promoted.

In the 2025–2026 academic year alone, 262 projects won awards at various levels across the province.

Many projects applied artificial intelligence, robotics, IoT and bioinformatics technologies, contributing to the development of students’ creative thinking and technological capabilities.

STEM education has been widely implemented, with dozens of training courses for teachers and STEM festivals attracting more than 2,000 officials, teachers and students.

All educational institutions have ensured infrastructure conditions for online teaching and learning. School management systems, sectoral databases, electronic report cards and digital records for teachers and students have been synchronously deployed.

The provincial digital learning repository has been continuously improved, effectively supporting teaching and learning anytime and anywhere.

Online public administrative services have achieved high rates, with over 98 per cent of dossiers submitted online, and 100 per cent of educational institutions implementing cashless payment.

Despite these results, the education sector acknowledged existing challenges, including uneven technology infrastructure among regions, a shortage of digital transformation personnel and limited investment funding.

The department proposed key solutions for the coming period, focusing on digital report cards, online enrolment systems, digitisation of diplomas and certificates, and upgrading the electronic document management system.

In 2026, the sector will continue to improve IT infrastructure; promote the application of digital platforms in school governance, teaching and assessment; develop a shared digital learning repository; and implement digital report cards and electronic records for teachers and students.

Administrative reform will be further advanced to ensure that 100 per cent of eligible procedures are provided online, associated with cashless payment.

Attention will also be paid to improving digital skills for managers and teachers, strengthening information safety and security, and enhancing data connectivity and sharing with provincial shared systems.

At the meeting, representatives of relevant agencies and units discussed and contributed ideas on tasks related to science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in the education sector to better serve teaching and learning in the coming time.

Concluding the session, Hiền underscored the special importance of effectively implementing Resolution 57 in education and training, describing it as a central and long-term task decisive to improving education quality, developing human resources and meeting digital transformation requirements.

He noted that the application of science and technology in education still requires substantial efforts, urging the department to proactively study experiences from other localities, select suitable and effective models and solutions, and consider commissioning reputable technology corporations to provide consultancy on science and technology applications in education and training.

The Department of Education and Training was asked to urgently develop a list of key tasks on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation for the sector.

In the immediate term, priority should be given to building a shared sectoral database, developing digital libraries, training and fostering teachers, and establishing STEM classrooms as a foundation for comprehensive digital transformation in education.

The Vice Chairman also requested the department to accelerate implementation and deliver concrete products and outcomes, ensuring full and timely compliance with requirements set by central and provincial authorities on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation development.
