Promoting Development of High-Tech Agricultural Zones

On May 15, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Đỗ Tâm Hiển chaired a meeting with departments, agencies, localities and businesses to discuss solutions for developing high-tech agricultural zones across the province.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has two recognized high-tech agricultural zones, including a cold-climate vegetable, flower and fruit production area in Măng Đen, and a coffee-growing area covering nearly 1,939 hectares in Đăk Pxi, Đăk Mar, Đăk Ui, Ngọc Réo and Đăk Hà communes.

The province is also planning an additional five high-tech agricultural zones with a total area of more than 1,550 hectares, focusing mainly on fruit trees and coffee cultivation.

In forestry and medicinal plant development, more than 134,000 hectares of high-yield tissue-cultured hybrid acacia have been planted. The province has also tested 51 high-tech eucalyptus varieties for raw material forest development.

In addition, several production linkage models for Ngọc Linh ginseng and other valuable medicinal plants are being implemented in mountainous localities.

Although no high-tech livestock farming zones have been officially recognized, the province currently has 247 concentrated livestock farms applying advanced technologies in production.

Delegates report at the meeting

To date, eight enterprises have been recognized as high-tech agricultural enterprises in cultivation, processing and livestock sectors, while four others are being supported to complete the required criteria for recognition.

Many local agricultural products have been connected to major supermarket chains nationwide and officially exported to markets such as China, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển emphasized that the implementation process has generally followed the directives of relevant authorities and achieved positive results. However, to develop modern and sustainable agriculture linked with processing and market consumption, it is necessary to continue reviewing and improving planning and implementation efficiency.

Vice Chairman Đỗ Tâm Hiển speaks at the meeting

He assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with relevant agencies and localities in reviewing and fully integrating concentrated agricultural production areas and high-tech agricultural zones in accordance with approved guidelines. Attention should be paid to clearly defining forestry, agriculture and fisheries areas to ensure accuracy and avoid overlaps in planning.

Local authorities were instructed to work closely with the Department of Agriculture and Environment in integrating large-scale, high-tech agricultural production zones into the provincial master plan; actively coordinate with the Provincial Cooperative Alliance to establish cooperative models; and strengthen communication and guidance for local people toward sustainable agricultural development, creating stable production zones that can attract investors and deep-processing enterprises.
